Kesennuma Oshima is a big island of 25-minute ferry ride from the ferry terminal of Kesennuma.
“There’s nothing but nature” in this island. It is a very beautiful island and has been designated as a national park.
Some of the inhabitants of the island say that “I would like to call the tourists more by increasing the tourist facilities”, but I think this island is naturally beautiful without touristic facilities. I think there is enough attractive points to call more people, so may be they need more advertisement to let more people know about this island.
I stayed in my friend’s house for two weeks, so I’ll upload photos little by little.
Kameyama
You can enjoy different beautiful views by each direction, the Pacific Ocean views from the east, Rias coast of the main island from the northwest, entire Oshima surrounded by the sea from the south.
There was a lift to the mountain top before, but it was burned by the fire of Kesennuma of earthquake disaster. And it’s not yet rebuilt again.
Now there is only one way to climb up, first go to parking area under the top of the mountain, then walk for a little to top. (climbing by bicycle and walk is also possible, but seems a little tough.) Because the Parking space is not so large, tourists visiting here also reduced. It is a sad thing.
I would like to come here in the winter again. Because air is more clear in winter, the view should be more and more beautiful.
