“搅吧 Jiao Bar” for Everyone
Kuma “Let’s make a new Syochu bar together? Let everyone spend happy time here ! ”
Hanson “We all live in such a noisy city, so let’s share our emotions and enjoy life together! ”
Thus, in a musical instruments street of East Jinling Road, drinking Shochu, listening to reggae, that’s how our new lives began.
[搅 Jiao] – means stir or mix together. We want all the guests in [ Jiao Bar ] to enjoy drinking, music, art and the other things here, and enjoy communicating with people around the world.
[ Jiao Bar ] is everyone’s Jiao Bar, so we sincerely invite every friend for making happy space together. You can even mix [ Jiao Bar ] with your art show, music event, design exhibitions, academic exchanges and all kinds of activities here.
This time, we will carry out our first art event [ Collecting Everyone’s New Year Wish ] . We want to continue holding an art event in every month to provide showcase for more artists to exhibit and communicate with people.

Feel free to enjoy art –— by contemporary artist Hidemi Shimura
Recently people are too busy to go to art museum or art gallery, even I don’t go to see art so often. But it doesn’t mean people don’t like art, we just don’t have enough time to go to see it. Think about “What’s art for?” art should be something to bring people happy, relax and cheerful feelings. So I thought “If people have no time to see art, why don’t we bring art to our daily life?”
So when I heard why they named “Jaio bar” and what they want to do, I quickly decided to join their event. Not only exhibiting my art, I’ll do one installation “Wish collector’s wish” which everyone can join. So I want everyone come here to enjoy atmosphere and with drinking tea, beer or syochu.
This photo is from another exhibition – I’ll do one installation like this.
Wish Collector’s Wish
I am a contemporary artist Hidemi Shimura, I am also a “wish collector” – my hobby is collecting everyone’s wish, so my wish is everyone write down new year’s wish and hang it with my artworks.

What’s “Setsubun” ?
In Japanese tradition February 3rd is called “Setsubun 節分” which means the beginning of new season. In Japan we’ll do three things in “Setsubun” –
First, we scatter soy beans to outside and inside, to kick out demon from our house, and invite happiness to our house. Basically man wear demon mask and everyone throw soy beans to the guy.
Second, we eat roasted soy beans just as the same amount as our age. It is said that if you eat soy beans you can spend a year without catching cold.
Third, we eat one sushi roll, we face to the luckiest direction of this year (north-north-west in 2012), and eat it with your eyes closed, don’t speak anything, make your wish in your mind.
