Now I’m making a large artwork named “Shanghai Colors” based on colors in Shanghai. The size will be 183cm x 92cm, as my artwork this is one of the largest one. I’ve finished only three lines (12cm) in 8 days. I need to finish this until the beginning of February.
At first I planned to make an artwork based on colors in Japan, but I changed the idea. The reason is… I’m moving back to Japan so I wanted to making something related to Shanghai.
Second reason is more important, as everyone knows, now China and Japan relationship is in danger. Since I lived in China, I really think media always shows only small part of the other countries. People tend to judge the other countries or people living there by only limited information. This let people end up with having stereotype image about foreign countries. Through this artwork, I want to show the other part of China, (something funny, something charming).
