I am pleased to share that an interview with me has been published in Louvre Unbound Vol. 6, an independent contemporary art magazine featuring bold, experimental, and thought-provoking visual art from around the world.
Louvre Unbound provides a platform for emerging and independent artists whose practices often exist beyond mainstream institutions. The magazine places particular importance on artistic freedom, cross-cultural dialogue, and the diverse ways in which contemporary art reflects emotional, symbolic, and social experience.
The interview was made possible following my participation in the two-person exhibition JIKAN, held at Luka Art Gallery in Portugal in 2023. It was produced with the introduction and kind support of the gallery’s curator, Ana Carolina de Villanueva.
In the interview, I speak about the background of my artistic practice, my creative process, the materials and repetitive methods I use, and the ways in which my approach to art has changed over time. I also discuss how viewers often initially mistake my thread-based works for paintings, my recent reflections on time and artistic life, and my experience of having my work presented within an international curatorial context.
I am especially grateful that the interview gave me an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between materials, perception, cultural experience, and the direction I hope my future work will take.
